Another Lunch Ride, Another Sunny Warm Saturday In January

OK, so we're all at the shop hanging out. Larry has to leave to deal with a pain issue at the new house. So we all screw around until he gets back then it's off to lunch. It seems that the issue with Ian's bike is that the front cyl. pushrods are out of adjustment so Ian works on it a bit while we harass him. Larry decides he's hungry so he jumps in and gets them adjusted real quick then leaves Ian to put it all back together.

Ian doing it quick and dirty while Ian studies and learns the secrets of the ironhead.

How many guys does it take to supervise? I don't know because I was busy supervising the supervisors.

Larry had to leave to meet Ashley and some others at the restaurant. A few of us hung back and waited for Ian to finish.

Whitey on the way to eat.

The lunch table, Moon & Duane came over for lunch and to ride out to Larry's afterwards. It was great to see them it's been a while. They've been missed. That's Mathew enjoying his Birthday Lunch and Laura is next to him.

Farther around the table from the left, that's Larry's hand, then Ashley, one of Mathew's friends, another guy I don't know who rode over with Duane and Moon and finally Ape Knuckles.

My end of the table we've got Bill catching flies, Whitey wondering what the hell Bill is looking at and Ian checking out some chick.

This is how a lunch parking lot should look. The guy on the bagger couldn't resist pulling into our crowd and taking pics to impress his wife. This isn't even all the bikes, I'm telling you it was a good day!

Moon kickstarting his ironhead while the rest of us watch.

More to come, but I have to do some color adjusting the sun & clouds were playing hell with my camera that day.

Sunday's Attempted Breakfast Ride

Whitey  invited me to go on a breakfast ride with Him, Brandon and J.T. Sunday. Of course I said yes, once he told me it was a breakfast buffet with good bacon. SO Sunday morning I get up early and make it over to Pelham by 8 to meet Whitey. While we were waiting for the others a cool older guy stopped and we swapped stories about our old bikes for a little while. Finally we get a call from Brandon, it seems his bike was broke on the side of I-65 and he wanted us to bring him some oil so he could hopefully get going again. Whitey needed gas anyway so this was fine.....

Whitey arrives

Ready to go rescue Brandon

We saddled up and took off. After getting gas and buying some oil we got on the Interstate and proceeded to find Brandon and J.T.. Wasn't hard to find them of course, just look for the damn dirty Bikers on the side of the road...

Trying to make it go again

J.T. giving Moral support before realizing we had no morals to support.

After adding the oil and test running everything we decided to give it a try. The bike seemed to be running OK until we took off. We made it about 100 yards before Brandon's bike spewed a lot of smoke and pretty much died. Luckily we made it to the off ramp and up to the intersection before it stopped. We all got off our bikes and performed triage again, the consensus was that the patient needed a trauma unit. SO J.T. took off to get his truck. (Luckily he road his Sportster instead of the Shovel)....

J.T. off to get the ambulance

The sick patient and the Pelham Cop who stopped to see if he could help. Seemed like a nice guy, but we were beyond his help so he took off.

Some of the dead dinosaur juice that sprayed out of the engine on our short ride.

Finally J.T. gets back and we load the bike and head off to at least get SOME kind of breakfast. We went for a small Mom & Pop joint, but they were closed so we ended up at Waffle House.

Whitey taking off his gear.

The food was good and the conversation was great. We ended up having a pretty good time just sitting around on the side of the road and then again during breakfast. I think we managed to figure out how to solve all the world's problems...or at least why we hate hipsters. All  good things must end so I said good bye to everyone and headed on home to spend the rest of the day with the family. I hope your weekend was as good as mine. Next time maybe we'll even get to use more than a quart of gas on the ride.

Another Great Saturday

Another great weekend in the books. Saturday morning I had to knock out my "honey do" list consisting mainly of yard work, then I was able to get away and head over to GarCo. I got there just in time for lunch and after a little arm twisting I convinced them to go to Nino's so I could get a meat lover's calzone YUM YUM! The ride was short but still fun. After that we all hung out working on projects until it was time to take off for a party at Alabama Joe's house. He's got a really cool little house on a wooded lot in an area of town you would never expect to see his spread. I really dig it and should have taken pics before it got dark, but I was busy talking. I tried to take pics of the party, but the tiki torches were messing up my camera so I gave up and just enjoyed myself. It was pretty tame for a party with that many Haints, but then again I did leave pretty early.  Enjoy the pics from the lunch ride, I'm trying to update as much as I can, but things have kind of slowed down a little. It'll pic back up soon and until then just enjoy what you get and give me time and I'll post more.

What do you do once a kicker has hyper-extended your knee???? Why switch legs and give it another chance to break you of course! Larry doing the goofy foot kick starting.

I don't know what he was doing, but I got a picture of him doing it anyway.

I was taking a picture of David riding his CB750 before he buys the Panhead Larry is riding, but Larry decided to photo bomb me :-)

Trying to catch up to Larry and Spenser, but they love to give them old bikes plenty of steam.

Spenser changed his bike AGAIN! This time he got a beautiful old AMF Sporty tank off ebay for a good price. It's amazing how much of a difference just changing the paint color of a tank can make.

That tank really pops now.

Making the turn.

One more turn to go.

Another Great Ride To Lunch On Saturday!

This Saturday's lunch ride was great. We had 9 or so bikes for the ride and we had a great time blasting through traffic to get to Zeke's. Not much to say, the pics tell the story. Lunch was good and we enjoyed or ride.

Heading out from the shop.

Blasting down the road.

Whitey telling me that I'm number ONE!

What a motley crew this is!

As you can see Bill got his tank fixed. It still needs paint, but the new front mount is beautiful and should last forever.

Taking up all the damn parking lot!

Waiting for our waiter. I took the picture, but was trying to look like I wasn't. I hate when you can tell someone is just holding the camera out and taking a pic.

The rest of the table.

Cullen kick-starting his new bike. This one was just finished and is a beautiful piece of work. Larry and Spenser did good.

Ian Looking back wondering what stupid move I'm going to pull next just to get a cool picture.

Spenser bringing the Power! It's those new shaved fork legs, they make him feel EXTRA special. They do look great though. If Ross hadn't made the lowers on my Sporty look so damn good I'd do this to mine.

This is Todd, he's the guy that sold Bill the XS650 that got turned into his beautiful show winning, magazine featured Green Machine! He's slowly working on making this VLX his own. He's done a few things and has a lot more planned.

I'll have more pics from this ride posted later. I took a lot but can't use them all of course.

Weekend Spent Riding, Camping And Riding Some More!! (Part 1)

This weekend while most of you were hanging out at home, at the bar, on the couch or whatever boring stuff you were doing WE were out having a blast! Some of the guys came up with the idea to go camping over in the Talladega Nat. Forest so we loaded up and took off. Larry closed the shop around Noon then we headed over to Ross' house since he was running behind from working to get some serious BBQ meat cooked up and ready to take with us. Lucky for us Ian's transmission isn't done yet so he volunteered to drive his truck. Chopper Ed's bike was down too so he rode shotgun. The rest of us piled on the bikes and we were off.....

Leaving Ross's house. Did you really expect us to use the driveway like normal people? Gotta love Larry's riding gear, I'm diggin' those socks.

David and Stewie getting out of the grass.

Spencer is stoked for the ride!

Ian's All Terrain Monster Truck (Taken over my shoulder with the camera upside down)

We stopped in Talladega for lunch at Beverly's. My burger was pretty good!

Riding through the countryside.

Bill riding through the farmland.

David blasting up the road. David just got some new pipes made for the bike and they sound SWEET!

Riding the curves.

Going through the little towns. I LOVE to ride back roads, Interstates are boring.

Heading into the woods.

Does this bike make my ass look fat? Larry proving once again that Dixie Wrecked ain't no show queen!
