Finally, Another Saturday Ride

I got out Saturday to go by Ross' place to pick up something he had for me. We hung out for a little while (stay tuned for a feature on his shop with pics taken during this visit) and had some fun telling our old family war stories, literally, we both have a lot of Vets in our families. After I left Ross I was headed for the HD dealership to see some old friends when I got a text from Bill to come ride with him and Spenser. How could I pass that up? I ended up meeting them as they were finishing up lunch and away we went.

A buddy of Bill's wants him to make this poor stock Sporty look good. Bill brought the bike with him for the ride to get a feel for it and decide what it needed. It needs a lot, but that's another story.

Spenser of course was riding his Shovel. The only shovelhead I have ever seen that WANTS to run ALL the time. This bike was built right and will probably still be running when I'm dead and gone.

We headed out on the back roads and went through some high dollar housing area. It was pretty interesting because it's one of those areas where they are trying to make it look all European and old. Since I spent a few years in Germany and other areas I like to look at how they've done these places and see if they pulled it off or not. This neighborhood wasn't too bad. Good enough to keep the ride from being boring at least.

I had to actually pay attention on most of the ride, but I DID get a few good shots in. All the pics were from behind though since this was a bunch of windy curvy back roads.

The zoom helps because I could lag back, catch them going into the curve then let the camera go to get my own bike set up for the curve.

We passed a LOT of horse farms this ride. I'll have to go back out that way and get some horse pics for a friend of mine up in Canada who loves her horses.

After the ride we ended up at Bill's place to hang out, have a beer and just talk trash for a little while. While we were talking Bill looks out the garage door and sees this hawk, this bird was pretty close to us just hanging out in the tree and trying to eat whatever it was he caught. We couldn't see what it was, just that he had it and was eating it.

It was a great day for sure with temps in the 80's. I hope this is the start to a great riding season and not just allergy hell like I'm afraid it will be. Stay tuned we'll be picking up speed as the weeks go on.

The Weather Was Great Here This Weekend!

And of course you know that means another Sat. Lunch Ride! This Saturday Larry and Whitey decided to have a Biker Movie Night so a few more people came around. We didn't tell a lot of folks because we knew there would be technical issues we had to address so this was a practice run. I had to deal with the step-daughter's car dropping a valve early Sat. morning, but I made it in time for lunch so away we went.....

By the time we were ready to leave Mathew had joined us. He bought David's CB750 so David could buy the blue Panhead. Mathew is new to the chopper game, but he asks the right questions and seems to be pretty squared away.

After lunch Stewie, Mathew and I went by the HD shop to get some inner tubes. The rest of the crew went to Ross' to help him get a trailer off of his ceiling. (Don't ask, it's not a pretty story).

At the dealership we saw this beauty on the floor. You can tell the guy likes old stuff, but really had no clue about putting a bike together so that it all flows. (I'm being nice here).

Spenser stopped to grab his new issue of Dice to show us the pictures of his bike. YEP! That's right Spenser's bike is in the new issue of Dice Magazine!!!

Another Saturday Hanging With Great Friends!

Yep, once again we hung out at the shop on Saturday and went for a fun lunch ride. I DID get some more work done on the Flyrite Sporty, but Spenser used up all the gas for the TIG welder so it didn't get finished. I'll finish it and get pics in a couple of weeks after things settle dawn. In the meantime once again I bring you the Saturday Lunch Ride.....(In Technicolor)!

Another Great Saturday

Another great weekend in the books. Saturday morning I had to knock out my "honey do" list consisting mainly of yard work, then I was able to get away and head over to GarCo. I got there just in time for lunch and after a little arm twisting I convinced them to go to Nino's so I could get a meat lover's calzone YUM YUM! The ride was short but still fun. After that we all hung out working on projects until it was time to take off for a party at Alabama Joe's house. He's got a really cool little house on a wooded lot in an area of town you would never expect to see his spread. I really dig it and should have taken pics before it got dark, but I was busy talking. I tried to take pics of the party, but the tiki torches were messing up my camera so I gave up and just enjoyed myself. It was pretty tame for a party with that many Haints, but then again I did leave pretty early.  Enjoy the pics from the lunch ride, I'm trying to update as much as I can, but things have kind of slowed down a little. It'll pic back up soon and until then just enjoy what you get and give me time and I'll post more.

Spenser changed his bike AGAIN! This time he got a beautiful old AMF Sporty tank off ebay for a good price. It's amazing how much of a difference just changing the paint color of a tank can make.
