Another Fun Filled Bike Post!

Another round of chopper goodness from the Big Mountain Run. Check em out and if you know any details about the bikes please post it up in the comments..

Nice Shovelhead with a dished tank and devil's tail sissybar.

I've always liked the Goodson style air cleaners and custom springers are ALWAYS cool.

Classic clean shovel, I like it! This is what people were riding when I got into this gig over 20 years ago.

I LOVE this Triumph, I wish I knew something about it. I took pictures, but never saw anyone around who looked like they were claiming it. If you know something PLEASE post it.

The paint was badass! They even painted the fork shrouds up by the headlight AND the lower legs.

.
Nice set of pipes and even more of a look at the rear fender and sissy bar.

Love the paint, look at the detail, it's even fishscaled on the forks. These are the little details that separate a cool bike from a totally bad ass one!

Even the tailight was cool and unusual.

And finally Stogie Joe's Sporty ready to celebrate Memorial Day.

BMR Day 2

Time for the pics from Friday. I don't have many pictures of the craziness that went on at night since I don't like the way my camera takes pictures in that lighting. So enjoy the pics from the daylight.

Friday was a fun day, I went to breakfast with Nate and Andy then hooked up with Roadside Marty, Kim, Curt and Nicole for the rest of the day. Friday night got REALLY crazy, Roadside and I even joined the mosh pit and Roadside did a little stage diving. It was Curt's birthday and we did our best to make sure he had a good time. And by that I mean make sure he got puking drunk. We succeeded of course and in the process had a great time ourselves.

I woke up to John Dills starting his usual madness. It was fun to watch him in action.

Nate's knucklehead. Even sweet bikes like this need a roadside repair every once in a while.

The breakfast here was pretty good AND we were able to get cell phone reception so we could let the families know we were safe.

Chris Nowell (pronounced "Now Well" in case you didn't know!) and someone who's name I missed (like that's a surprise). Chris says he's a big fan of the blog, but he never comments so there is no proof ;-P

Roadside Marty and Kim on the Dyna T-sport. There are very few people I am comfortable with riding next to me and even fewer still I would be able to snap a picture of while riding next to me.

Alan was WIDE ASS OPEN all weekend. He fell on top of my tent Thursday night with me in it. He slept wrapped up in his tent Friday night because it collapsed and he couldn't be bothered to fix it and I have no idea where he slept Saturday night. I'm glad he had fun though, the man deserves it.

Bikes were riding around all the time and I tried to get pics when I could.

We walked down to the stream to get in and cool off. On the way a couple of folks pulled in and I was able to grab a few shots I like.

Another bike on the way in.

Riding past the unused big top toward the bar.

More pics to come, keep checking back there should still be a few good ones on the way.

More BMR Pics

The new Cycle Source just came out recently and that got me to thinking about BMR again. I was actually quite happy to see that my bike made it into the main image used for the BMR article. Mine is the black/blue Bad Boy with the Evel Knievel helmet on the handlebars. Not a great beauty shot, but hey you take what you can get. Also in this months issue is a feature about Adam Doyle's bike and I realized I had a good pic of it so I thought I'd share that as well. The rest of the pics are just ones that I like.

Adam's Bike, if you want to know more about it then go by the new Cycle Source! It's the only magazine I subscribe to.

Kick ass Panhead. I LOVE that old stock paint on that ironhead Sporty gas tank. There's not even much of anything I would change on this bike and I ALWAYS want to change something on every bike I see. Even my own......ESPECIALLY my own.

Another view plus you get to see the Shovelhead parked next to it. A couple of very sweet bikes for sure.

This bike tripped me out when I saw him out on the road before he made it to the campground. This bike is SO low and the ammo cans are SO wide he could barely turn it. Definitely NOT a great bike for winding mountain roads. I bet it was a scary ride through the hills that weekend.

You can get a better idea just how low and wide it all was. Nice bike, and I'm all about using Army surplus stuff, but this one made me scratch my head. The main thing is that HE likes it so my opinion doesn't really matter.

And Another Visit To the BMR

Got some more BMR pics to share. There are just too many cool bikes to not keep sharing even if it takes me 6 months. Enjoy the pics and start planning now to attend next years party.

This bike is just plain kick ass. Just sit and stare at it for a bit and you'll start to notice the little details that make or break a bike. Anyone can toss on a hardtail and call it a chopper, but to be right, it needs the small details tied in.

You can see more of the details from this view. Hugh, you and the boys did a good job on this one!

Jeremy had just enough moonshine to decide this outfit was appropriate. I tried to get that drunk, but just couldn't make it. I'm glad I could preserve the moment for all the fans out there. Can't wait to see your party clothes next year ;-)

Moon and Bill getting gas. I liked this old station, it was like a time capsule from when I was a kid. They still had old style pumps and a REALLY old Texaco sign.

Now for a couple of pics of the greatest pair of bikes I saw all weekend. This person LOVED their smiley faces, right down to the mirrors of the bike. I guess it's all good as long as they're having fun.

And the other half of the pair, this one a HUGE Tennessee and SEC fan. I'd love to find out where they found the big orange T mirrors. After what I did to the old Batcycle/Honda I can't say too much, at least they're having fun.

And just to make up for the two previous pictures here is a near perfect Knucklehead to make amends. Hope this helps to clean the other images out of your brain.

Until next time.....

The Suicide Imbecile at the Big Mtn Run.

Another beautiful Sporty I saw at BMR. I need to start carrying a notebook and trying to get more details about these bikes when I see them. I can certainly tell you a few things about this bike such as the details are kick ass and worthy of looking for. There is some really cool engraving in places like the brake plates and kicker cover. The air cleaner is a one off for sure and the way the paint was done makes me smile. I'm not into the fake aged paint where a guy paints a bunch of layers and then grinds some off. These guys did it differently though. They used this technique, but not to look aged. They painted the silver to match the tank and then in places like the side of the front down tubes they made a grind stripe (for lack of a better term) so that it looks like they painted a really cool stripe with a quick brush swipe, but it has a better look done this way. You'll have to see it in person to really get the effect, but I can assure you it is worth the look.

Suicide Imbecile in all its glory. I'm not sure about the all terrain tires, but they are growing on me. I think it gives it a meaner more aggressive look.

I love the sissybar/tailight set up, it looks like the light is an original piece as well.

I love those old tin primaries.

You can look at this pic for days and still not catch all the details. I know I've looked at it at least 20 times and still see something new. I like the way the shifter is done. If you make a shifter too heavy it's going to wear out your seals faster and can cause other issues. This way of doing it keeps the weight down and at the same time doesn't over power all the other cool details.

A closer view of some of the engraving.

Some Cool Bikes From BMR

There were some bad ass choppers for sure at BMR, here are a few of them. Still a ton more to edit and get uploaded so keep checking back.

Just a fun pic of the boys playing on a little XS400 out on the green.

Sportster that Mosely rode up on.

Nice Shovel

Who said a Twin Cam can't be made to look cool?

Grimey's Shovel, this bike looked NOTHING like this at the Roundup a few weeks ago.

J-Rod's sweet Shovel.

Some bikes from the Led Sled crew.

Stay Tuned more to come as I sort through them.

Big Mtn Run 2011, Where Do I Even Begin?

WOW! What a weekend. I had more fun than a human should be allowed to have. I took over 500 pics so it will take a while to sort them and get rid of the fuzzy, blurry or embarrassing ones. We rode up 13 strong in our group and had a 4 day weekend of hanging out with some of the best people in the world. It was great seeing friends like Timebomb and J-rod from the BDAC in Atlanta, QCB Rob and Flounder from Knoxville, Don Woods from the woods near his house and especially Roadside Marty. You just can't NOT have a good time when he's around. Here's a few shots to get the ball rolling I'll post more this week as I go through them.

On the way through Ft. Payne, AL on the ride up.

I took this over my shoulder with the camera upside down. Not too bad for having no idea what was behind me.

Pickett riding through Ft. Payne.

Pickett and Rob getting gas in Tellico Plains.

Moon broke his clutch cable in the driveway of the party. He made it at least and Chauncy had a spare cable to get him going again. They make fun of us over packers, but they're happy when we have what they need.

Ryan doing a burnout, he was lucky a friend was there with a truck. He ended up blowing the tire, throwing the chain and basically having the time of his life.

Here is the burnout with out the flash. YES, his pipes ARE glowing that red. There was no light shining on them we had that baby wound out.

In the truck for the ride home.

Super Stewie ready to go in and rescue the beer from the evil store cooler!

Even the local Amish guy wanted to party with us ;-)
