Prepping For BMR And A Saturday Lunch Ride

I'll be heading out for the Big Mountain Run on Thursday so I needed to get some stuff done to the bike. I got the fluids changed last week and Saturday I changed the rear tire and repaired my saddlebag. Apparently I can lean a softail farther than I thought and I've worn a hole in my bag. I stopped by Tandy last week and picked up some leather and "chicago screws". When I get back I plan to repair my other bag (the first one I wore through) with a metal shoe, but for this trip I used leather to patch up this bag. All I'm really worried about is stuff falling out, the bags are not water proof anyway so this repair should be OK.

For a while now Loaf has been saying he wanted to come up and visit Larry's new shop and this weekend he finally made it. Basically all morning I worked on my bag a helped out whoever needed an extra hand since all of the jacks were being used. Loaf hung out with us and finally got to join in our fun time. Around lunch time we packed it up and headed off to get something to eat. We had some fine vittles at the local Jim & Nick's BBQ, met up with Roadside Marty then headed back to the shop where I eventually got my tire changed.

Once again I have a tire strapped on the bike looking kinda crazy, but getting what I needed done taken care of. (Thanks Larry for all the times you've helped me with this kinda stuff)

When I got there Spenser was painting some pieces for his bike.

The repair to the bag. It doesn't look like much, but even Ian agreed that it'll probably work.

Loaf dropped a glove on the way out of the driveway so we ended up behind the rest of them. Made for a cool pic though.

We finally caught up.

Loaf being Loaf and enjoying his sweet Ironhead.

He's a big ol' boy, but he looks at home on that bike.

Spenser getting a nice ride in on the shovel. This one is still for sale, see my previous post for details.

Sometimes I just point the camera and see what happens. Sometimes it looks pretty cool like this one. I had the camera zoomed in when I clicked the button and this is what I got.

This is what I was trying to get. Isn't that a handsome man?

Spenser hamming it up for the lens.

Saturday's Lunch Ride

Things are getting squared away at the new shop and it's time to get back top the Saturday Lunch Rides! This time Ashley actually rode with Larry on his new Panhead, Bart joined us, and we went to a Mexican place I've never been to before. A good way to pick up the old tradition at the new location.

This bike still has a linkert so the first start of the day takes some work. Larry showed off his new kicking style after he started to get tired.

Bart on his Crossbones.....or at least what USED to be a Crossbones.

Ian on his mightly XL leaving the shop.

Yeah, we're waiting on the Larry and Spenser ;-)

Here they come.

Spenser with his new springer front end on the shovel. I think this is version 756 for this bike.

I love this area, the roads are beautiful.

Larry and Ashley as I was catching up to them.

She looks MUCH happier on the back of a bike then she's ever looked in a car or truck!

It seems like almost every picture I took of Bart some part of my handlebars got in the way.

Spenser passing through the green fields.

Time to get our grub on!

Larry was going a little crazy from hunger.

Time to go! Mathew got his started quickly.

The road home.

Once again we had a great time and I'm looking forward to more great rides in the future.

Once Again Saturday Rocked!

The weather is CRAZY! Over the last few weeks we have had temps ranging from upper 20's to mid 70's. It's great on the warm days and luckily a lot of those have fallen on the weekends. This last Saturday the temps were in the mid 60's and beautiful so we took advantage of it. This day's lunch ride had the most bikes of the year so far. I think there were about 7 bikes and that's pretty damn good for February. Enjoy the pics, I'm not sure what you'll see from this weekend since we'll be helping Larry move the shop into the new building so there won't be many bikes around. I'm even borrowing a truck from work so I can help move stuff ;-)

Spenser made it in and got to ride his bike for a change.

"Crank em up!"

"Rolling, rolling, rolling....

C'mon, keep up Mathew!

Vroooooom!!!!

Ready to turn into Nino's for a killer calzone.

In the lot ready to head back. It was a good ride and some great food. Got some good work done that afternoon as you saw in the post about my oil tank.

Another Lunch Ride, Another Sunny Warm Saturday In January

OK, so we're all at the shop hanging out. Larry has to leave to deal with a pain issue at the new house. So we all screw around until he gets back then it's off to lunch. It seems that the issue with Ian's bike is that the front cyl. pushrods are out of adjustment so Ian works on it a bit while we harass him. Larry decides he's hungry so he jumps in and gets them adjusted real quick then leaves Ian to put it all back together.

Ian doing it quick and dirty while Ian studies and learns the secrets of the ironhead.

How many guys does it take to supervise? I don't know because I was busy supervising the supervisors.

Larry had to leave to meet Ashley and some others at the restaurant. A few of us hung back and waited for Ian to finish.

Whitey on the way to eat.

The lunch table, Moon & Duane came over for lunch and to ride out to Larry's afterwards. It was great to see them it's been a while. They've been missed. That's Mathew enjoying his Birthday Lunch and Laura is next to him.

Farther around the table from the left, that's Larry's hand, then Ashley, one of Mathew's friends, another guy I don't know who rode over with Duane and Moon and finally Ape Knuckles.

My end of the table we've got Bill catching flies, Whitey wondering what the hell Bill is looking at and Ian checking out some chick.

This is how a lunch parking lot should look. The guy on the bagger couldn't resist pulling into our crowd and taking pics to impress his wife. This isn't even all the bikes, I'm telling you it was a good day!

Moon kickstarting his ironhead while the rest of us watch.

More to come, but I have to do some color adjusting the sun & clouds were playing hell with my camera that day.

Another Saturday, Another Ride To Lunch.

I know a lot of you don't have riding weather where you are, so us Southerners are willing to keep riding and taking pics to make sure you don't forget just how much fun it is to ride all year. Saturday was a beautiful day around 60° or so and we took advantage of it.

Ian kickstarting his ironhead that he just put back together while Larry photobombs him back there.

This one is for J-Rod in the BDAC. I TOLD you I love the new helmet you painted for me.

Matt is getting some good miles in on his CB750. He's young, but learning pretty quick.

"Uh Oh! He's gonna post this damn pic and Stewie will know I "borrowed" his bike!"
Actually Larry is more brazen than that, he posted a pic of Spenser's bike in the parking lot of Nino's on "Instagram" to rub it in that Stewie was moving while we were playing.

Ian FINALLY slowed down at a stoplight so that I could catch up and get a pic. That damn ironhead runs a LOT better now than it did on the way to and from last years BMR.

We've arrived!

I told his young ass to slow down on the way back so I could get a pic. I got this one, but the rest of them are from behind because he just couldn't resist.

Lot's of fun Saturday as usual. If you're in the area you really should stop in. There's always something fun happening.
