Playing With My Camera And Having Some Silly Fun

Since I got the new camera a while back I've been trying to get the hang of all these new wizz bangs and cool stuff I can do with it. One reason I wanted this camera was so I could play with the depth of field and a few other creative ideas. Since it is much easier to practice with small easy to manipulate subjects I like to take pictures of my toys.YES, I still have toys, just because I have to get older doesn't mean I have to grow up! Some of my favorite toys are my Evel Knievel bikes and figures. Since this is a chopper blog and I actually have Evel's chopper why not use it and then post it here for y'all to make fun of ;-) Hopefully soon I can find some more cool bike stuff to share. Until then I'll mix in some old stuff and some weird stuff to keep you entertained.

More Stuff From Saturday And The Ha Ha Honda...

After I left Conte Kustoms Saturday I swung by GarCo expecting them to all be gone to the Smokeout, but it turns out that Larry and Ashley were off having fun, but Spenser decided to stick around the home front. I guess that's a good thing since he took advantage of the time to wheel and deal to get a 250 Rebel for his sweetie Ha Ha Holly. It's about time she had her own bike. I think a lot of the ideas in this bike will be Spenser's but the sweat involved will be Holly's. They got started and so far so good. Obviously you can see the sheetmetal is gone, but they also relocated the top shock mount back about 2-3". That'll raise the seat a little and give them more room to play with the rear fender set up. Holly did all the grinding for this and Spenser did the welding. Sounds like a good combination to me.

You can see a little of the work on the shock and part of the new handlebars. They're a set of nice ACE bars from a cafe racer flipped upside down and used in the conventional configuration.

J-Body is finally making progress on his shovel. It's damn near ready to tear apart for paint. Can't wait to see it when it's finished.

Yep, it's been wet here a lot lately. Right after I got to the shop it rained like crazy.

Of course it kept raining and after a couple of hours I gave up and rode home in it. Oh well, it's not the first time I've ridden in the rain. Hell, it's not even the first time this month ;-)

My Buddy Bill Won Best Metric At BMR....

At the BMR they had a Chopper show and some of our guys entered it. Good thing too, because some of them won! Bill entered his XS650 and won Best Metric. Gotta love it when a bike is ridden a few hundred miles to a party and then proceeds to win a prize in the show. THAT'S when you know its the right kind of event. Enjoy the pics!

You can see the custom handlebars, taillights and the aluminum ribbed rear fender.I believe that might even be an original Wassel fender. I love the total lack of bright colors until you get to that tank. It REALLY jumps out and grabs your attention.

On this side you get a good look at the custom pipes. This bike has got a really nice tone and will get up and sing to you when the throttle is twisted.

On the way back home Bill took a picture of me taking a picture of him. I got this one of him....

and he got this one of me :-) We had a great ride and I can't wait to go again. Having the right people along makes it all good.

Another great bike from the BMR. It started life as a BMW and somewhere during its life it managed to start running with the wrong people and ended up in the shape you see here. once again I didn't get the details, but as you can see the details are there for you to see. If you know more about this bike feel free to add the info in the comments. Great work like this needs to be recognized!

Handmade leaf spring forks and all kinds of other cool details.

Some more details of the front end. I like the cool cage they made for the light as well as the way it is mounted and the handlebars are VERY unique. The wing nuts holding the leaf spring are a nice touch.

Very nice clean lines from this angle.

You don't see this style of brake set up very often. ESPECIALLY on a shaft driven engine. A very nice job was done converting the drivetrain to a chain drive. A lot of work and design went into this set up.

I never knew the key switch was part of the engine cases. I've always liked how the kick starter was set up on old BMW's. It makes sense with the way the crankshaft spins, but it just looks odd. Once again a lot of details for you to stare at and ponder.

I promise that I will start carrying a notepad of some kind and will get more details on these bikes. A lot of great work is seen, but not really understood. I want to give you the details needed to understand it.

75 XLCH From Back in the Day

This bike was built 20 years or so ago and then kept through the years to be given to the builders son recently. I haven't met the owner yet but I got the story and wanted to share this beautiful bike. It still runs after all these years and other than a shifting issue (bent shift fork?) it is ready to ride right now even after all these years. The bike is a 75 XLCH with a bolt on hard tail, springer fork and of course my favorite upswept fishtails. Hopefully this bike will stay in the family and see many more miles of fun on the road.

(SOLD!!!!) Need to Sell these Wheels to Fund the Project.....

OK, these are the wheels that came on my new Sporty project. I've already replaced them with spokes so I need to sell these to get more stuff. The rear is wheel only, the front has a new Firestone replica tire with less than 20 miles on it. They are powdercoated black, the rear has one small nick out of it. The front looks good but there is one small area with a little fisheye in it. I'll try to get a pic of the flaw if you want it, the pic I have makes it look a lot worse than it is. I'll be putting these on ebay soon, but I'd rather not mess with it if I can help it. Ask questions if you need to. I will sell these with free shipping (one of the perks of my job). Help a Chopperfreak out and get some cool stuff for your bike. I'm asking $250 OBO for the set, but will consider partial trades. Let me know what ya have to trade.The bearings are for 3/4" axles and the PN for the front wheel is 43499-78, the rear wheel doesn't have a number on it, but it is from the same bike as the front I'm pretty sure. Tell your friends! I want these sold without having to screw around with ebay!
